Biometrics is an evolving technology for government agencies. Threats are becoming more complex and we must stay armed with the most up-to-date and effective tools, techniques, and technologies in identification to prevent crimes and security issues before they start. Biometrics can be used for identity fraud protection.
In 2003 the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), stated a preference for fingerprints and facial recognition to be used on travel documents. ICAO has mandated that all member countries should move to electronic passports by 2010. ePassports contain the facial and fingerprint images on the NFC microchip in the ePassport. When travellers present their ePassport on arrival at one Point of Entry, their fingerprints are read and photos are taken of their faces. These and the biometric data stored on the microchip are then encoded and compared. If the biometric data is matched within a redefined level of tolerance, they are deemed to be of the same person.
Our biometrics device, which can capture facial and fingerprint images and also have NFC reader/writer function, can be applied for integration with ID card/visa/ePassport solutions. OCR machine readable zone(MRZ) scanner can be integrated with customization request to read machine readable passport(MRP), machine readable visa(MRV) and other machine readable travel cards conforming to ICAO Doc 9303.
